Edinburgh
Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland. It lies in central Scotland, on the south side of the Firth of Forth, an inlet of the North Sea. The city is built on several hills and is noted for the beauty of its immediate surrounds.
Edinburgh is the seat of the Scottish judicature (administration of justice) and of a university. It is a major cultural center and the annual International Festival of Music and Drama attracts people from all over the world. The city is dominated by its castle. The Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, originally an abbey, is the chief royal palace in Scotland.
