Guatemala
Guatemala is the most northerly country in Central America. It has an area of 42,042 square miles and extends from the Caribbean Sea to the Pacific. Its capital and largest city is Guatemala City. A chain of mountains containing many high volcanoes crosses Guatemala.
Over half of Guatemala's people are Indians descended from the Mayas, who had an advanced civilization over 1,500 years ago. Most Guatemalans are farmers. Crops include coffee and sugar.
